We think Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Thomas "Tip" O'Neil's famous quotation could not have been more right.

The Salem County Democratic Leadership Committee (SCDLC) is dedicated to supporting and promoting Democratic candidates for local office-township committee, council and mayor. We see this effort to build a strong foundation of local leadership as a fundamental to continuing the success that Democrats have achieved at the county level and above. Through aggressively supporting local candidates in key municipalities, and fostering new leaders across the county, the SCDLC is committed to growing a strong locally-based network of elected officials who support Democratic Party ideals.

The SCDLC supports local Democratic candidates and parties in three specific areas.

Capacity Building:
The SCDLC will provide emerging local Democrats with support, advice and funding to build a strong organization that can field viable candidates for local office in the immediate future.

Technical Support:
The SCDLC's team will provide experienced campaign veterans to assist municipal candidates in creating an executing effective campaign plans that result in electing local Democratic officeholders.

Financial Development:
Through development support and direct contributions, SCDLC will work with candidates to ensure the needed resources are available to fund winning campaigns.

2008 will be an exceptional year for Democratic candidates on the state and national levels and the SCDLC is determined to translate that wave of enthusiasm to our local races.
